What Service children want you to know
Key messages drawn from the 'top tips for schools' devised by Service children at events across the country:
- We are proud of our parent’s role serving our country
- We want other pupils and our teachers to understand –give us opportunities to explain what it is like, to explain why things can be different for us, for example why we may be granted term time holidays
- We find it helpful to talk to other Service children about our experiences
- We worry about what will happen to a deployed parent and may get upset or angry in school
- We sometimes have very little contact with a deployed parent
- We sometimes have to work extra hard: to fit into new schools, to cope at home when a parent is away
