A Decade of the Covenant: A review of delivery and impact of ten years of the Armed Forces Covenant

A new report has been published by the Forces in Mind Trust (FiMT) called ‘A Decade of the Covenant’. It’s a review of the delivery and impact of ten years of the Armed Forces Covenant and can be accessed online. Contents of A Decade of the Covenant The report includes several resources for councils and government including an overarching Theory of Change model which sets out how and why the Covenant reduces disadvantage, a basket of indicators to use as a starting point to measure the impact of the Covenant, an updated core infrastructure and toolkit, and case studies of good practice.

Edith Moorhouse Primary School Case Study: Principle 1

This case study describes the clarity, as well as the distributed leadership, of Edith Moorhouse Primary’s approach to supporting its large number of Armed Forces families. Additional support for Service children is informed by an evidence base and analysed rigorously for its impact.

Cwmclydach Primary School Case Study: Principle 2

Cwmclydach Primary School is a community school that places a strong emphasis on working with its many partners to develop exciting futures for the children in its care. In recognition of their wellbeing support, the school was the first in their Local Authority to be awarded the ‘National Nurturing Schools Programme Award’. Cwmclydach feel that it is an honour to support the Armed Forces Community and recognise the value Service Personnel, both Regular and Reservists, Veterans and serving families, contribute to the school and country. This Case Study highlights how the school used Principle 2 to help evaluate its support for Armed Forces pupils.
