Posted in Views
SCiP Alliance Director Phil Dent discusses the Alliance's work, outlining research on Service children's underrepresentation at HE and the University of Winchester and Bath Spa University's work with pupils across Wiltshire and Hampshire. In addition to discussing the challenges, Phil responds to the recurring theme in the programme around the resilience and adaptability Service children accrue through their experiences. He outlines the Alliance's work with UCAS to ensure Service children are able to make the most of their rich experiences in HE applications and explains how the SCiP Alliance is working with partners to help schools to be better equipped to support Service children. The programme goes on to hear from listeners who grew up in Service families and to discuss the challenges and of dealing with the predicted influx of pupils with army rebasing on Salisbury Plain in the next 2 years.
