Service children are underrepresented in HE
Posted in News
Highlights from the 2016 University of Winchester research report:
Findings suggest that children from military service families are under-represented in the higher education population. It is in the realm of up to 4 out of 10 children who, if in the general population would go to university, do not go if they are from a military family
Service children achieve very much the same as their non-Service peers in mathematics and English in Key Stages 1 and 2, and also at GCSE level.
Mobile Service children appear to attain less highly than their non-mobile service peers although mobile Service children do seem to out-perform their mobile non-Service peers.
