Parliamentary debate on the Armed Forces Covenant February 2017

Anne-Marie Trevelyan MP, chair of the APPG for the Armed Forces Covenant, raised the issue of Service children's education in parliament in February 2017:
“This year’s report refers to the work done to identify educational disadvantage. My postbag led me to bring in my Bill because too many families moving at short notice could not access a school place without ending up in the appeals system, which creates even more stress for parents and children alike. Excellent work from the University of Winchester, which the MOD is supporting, shows a marked impact when it comes to higher education outputs for military children. We must at least reduce the stress of moving schools to help these kids to reach their potential.” (Vol 620, col.1242)
