The Hub meets quarterly to discuss and understand the needs of Service children in the East of England. We benefit from having a wide cross-section of members to support one another in both research and delivery of events. Our collaborative approach allows us to address the barriers that Service children face and help them to overcome these on their educational journey. Together we aim to offer support to the 6000+ service children in our area.
We are planning:
- An IAG conference to increase students aspirations and fully inform them about Higher Education
- Creative forces days, both on university campus and beyond educational settings
- CPD for teachers
- Continue to support the VFI (Veterans & Families Institute for Military Social Research) in policy development and consultation on the impact of military service on veteran families
If you have any questions or are interested in hearing more about the Hub please contact us via email on: scip@aru.ac.
'Finding Your Way' is an invaluable guide for service children to helpthem navigate their post-16 and post-18 education options. With clear, up-to-date information on student finance, HE and vocational qualifications, making applications and next steps, this helpful booklet can also be used by parents and carers and school/college staff.
