This webinar offers a valuable opportunity to explore the unique educational experiences of children from Armed Forces families in Scotland. The session brings together school leaders and local authority representatives who will share their experiences in supporting this remarkable group of young people.

Key speakers include:

  • Robyn Pattison (Policy and Parliamentary Worker, Forces Children Scotland)

  • Lou Kinnear (MLG Education and Learning, Highland Council)

  • Yvonne Moore (Headteacher, Colinton Primary School)

  • Linda Candlish (Depute Head, Colgrain Primary School)

The panel will present practical approaches that have proven effective in their schools and local authorities. Attendees will learn how education settings across Scotland are fostering inclusive environments that both recognise and celebrate the adaptability of Armed Forces children, while also addressing their unique needs.

The webinar will cover:

  • Current Scottish educational policy frameworks supporting Armed Forces children

  • The strengths these children bring to educational settings

  • Challenges faced during transitions and deployment periods

  • Successful interventions and support strategies

Organised in a conversational style, the event will see the Chair engage speakers in a dialogue to explore key issues surrounding the educational journey of children and young people within the Armed Forces community. Attendees will also have the opportunity to share their own views and experiences, and pose questions to the panel.
